FAQs

What are the Teens in Business Awards?

Young people across Australia have incredibly creative ideas, are developing and running amazing businesses, and are creating value for their communities.

We want to acknowledge these young people and give them the support to expand their impact. By getting involved students can join a growing community of young people doing innovative things through business.

This doesn’t happen without educator champions and volunteer industry mentors and we want to recognise that it takes a village to support our future business leaders.

We’ve got some fantastic awards, judges and prizes to help enterprising young people build their momentum.

These awards are brought to you by an alliance of entrepreneurial education providers that work across Australia to support the next generation of innovative entrepreneurs change makers and business leaders.

Who is behind the Teens in Business Awards?

BOP Industries:

BOP Industries is an Australian technology and education company on a mission to inspire the next generation of Digital Creators. We aim to inspire, empower and engage 'Generation Z' showing them the amazing things they can do from anywhere, at any age.

Through our innovation camps, workshops, masterclasses and various other engagements we have the pleasure of working with students, parents, teachers and industry leaders around the world to innovate, create and empower.

Tech Girls:

The Tech Girls Movement Foundation exists to give girls access to technology and programs to build their skills and confidence. We present real-life female role models - women working in STEM, as mentors and superheroes featured in our Tech Girls Are Superheroes books. We inspire young women to solve important community problems with technology skills and business acumen through our annual online Techgirls competition. Our Founder & CEO Dr Jenine Beekhuyzen OAM is a well-known researcher and advocate on diversity and inclusion for women in Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths (STEM) fields.

In 2020 we have directly engaged 10 000 girls in STEM entrepreneurship across Australia & New Zealand since the movement was formed in 2014.

Young Change Agents:

Young Change Agents is a NFP social enterprise with a mission to help young people see problems as opportunities through entrepreneurship. Our focus is on building the mindset, skillset and toolset of young people and we do this in a scalable way by investing in eco-system development, teacher capacity building and proprietary technology to support our face-to-face programs.

In 2020, Young Change Agents is a key delivery partner for the Australian Government initiative, the Academy of Enterprising Girls as well as a Digital Futures Partner of Telstra Foundation reaching youth in regional and rural areas across Australia. Our programs are inclusive of all youth including marginalised and disadvantaged young Australians.

The ownership of all intellectual property (IP) developed through the competition remains with the teams involved in developing it. Teens in Business does not require ownership over any part of competing teams’ apps or associated IP.

Teens in Business does require copies of all pitch videos and demo videos. These will be made public for promotional purposes, and as such, will become the property of Teens in Business. We recommend minimising the use of identifying information in the videos such as school uniforms and surnames.
